But before we talk about ways to improve your relationship with food, I thought it could be helpful to point out signs that could indicate an unhealthy relationship with food.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-2f232dce elementor-widget elementor-widget-spacer\" data-id=\"2f232dce\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"spacer.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-spacer\">\n\t\t\t<div <\/span>It&#8217;s our body&#8217;s nourishment, sustenance, and means for survival.<\/p><p><b>But food isn&#8217;t <i>only<\/i> fuel.\u00a0<\/b> It&#8217;s so much more than that!<\/p><p>Food is a source of pleasure and enjoyment, a way to connect with others and celebrate our traditions.\u00a0<\/p><p><span style=\"letter-spacing: 0em; color: var( --e-global-color-text ); text-align: var(--text-align); font-size: 1rem;\">Food can bring people together, creating a sense of community and belonging. It&#8217;s also a way to explore new cultures and experiences, whether through trying a new dish, or cuisine, or visiting a different restaurant.<\/span><\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><div><div style=\"line-height: 1.4; direction: ltr; margin-left: 0px;\"><p><span style=\"letter-spacing: 0em;\">Food is also a way to celebrate milestones and special occasions &#8211; from birthday cakes to wedding feasts &#8211; food is often at the center of our celebrations. I think this viewpoint helps my clients live both healthier<em>\u00a0and<\/em>\u00a0happier lives!\u00a0<\/p><p style=\"letter-spacing: 0.2px;\">I know what you might be thinking but birthday cakes, wedding feasts, and Christmas cookies aren&#8217;t *healthy* Krista!!!<\/p><p style=\"letter-spacing: 0.2px;\">I&#8217;m here to tell you that ALL foods fit into a healthy, balanced diet. For our health, it&#8217;s not a great idea to eat more cake and cookies than we do fruits and vegetables, however, cake and cookies have a place too.\u00a0 Contrary to what diet culture says, we don&#8217;t need to feel like failures or criminals for eating them. That is where\u00a0<span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">balance<\/span>\u00a0fits in.<\/p><p style=\"letter-spacing: 0.2px;\">I teach my clients how to find their balance so they can enjoy food again! People who restrict foods tend to be people who binge foods as well. Overeating is your body&#8217;s natural response to restriction. Get rid of the restrictions and try a more balanced approach. All foods can fit into a healthy, balanced diet.\u00a0<\/p><p><b>2.<\/b>\u00a0<strong><b>Be mindful of your language around food<\/b>:<\/strong>\u00a0stop referring to food as &#8220;clean&#8221;, &#8220;junk&#8221;, &#8220;good&#8221; and &#8220;bad&#8221;.\u00a0 Refer to food by its actual name &#8211; broccoli is broccoli and chocolate is chocolate. Each food provides your body with different amounts of different nutrients. Some foods provide more protein and fibre and others provide more carbohydrates and fat. But it&#8217;s still food.<\/p><p><b>3.<\/b>\u00a0<strong><b>Listen to your body<\/b>:\u00a0<\/strong>with the consistent practice of honouring your body&#8217;s hunger and fullness cues, you&#8217;ll begin to trust your body.
